How will you know what yoga is?

"When creation began, it was marked as the Satyug. In Satyug, Yoga primarily was gyan (not knowledge). We differentiate knowledge from gyan – while knowledge is limited to the physical brain and the 5 senses, gyan is embedded in the deepest core of the physical and etheric self. To prove this fact, I would like to quote an interesting case study. Mr. William Sheridan from New York went for a heart  transplant. Before the surgery he was an ordinary office-goer, but post the surgery he suddenly started to sketch and paint. He himself was taken by surprise and when research was done, it was found that the heart that was given to him belonged to an artist  http://www.dailymail.co.uk/ health/article-381589/ The-art-transplant.html  This proves that consciousness is present in each and every cell of the body and in all layers of cell. [Cell is not a modern-day concept. Rishi Atreya gave the concept of anu and paramanu many millennia ago in the Sankhya philosophy. He described ...

Ageing and Concept of Agni

"In Ayurveda a concept of agni (fire) has been given. Agni here refers not just to the digestive fire, but various kinds of agnis corresponding to myriad life processes. In fact, it is the agni which is the sub-stratum of a cell, not the nucleus. It is the play of agni that leads to symptoms of ageing in the body, that is, dulling of the senses - vision deteriorates, hearing ability decreases, sense of touch becomes weak, etc. What do these agnis do? When you inhale there is an exchange of gases in the lungs, energy is produced at the cellular level and in turn, toxins are also produced. These toxins are called as  ama  in  Ayurveda . Because of their production, cell exhibits symptoms of weakening. Cells die and are reborn, each subsequent cell being weaker than the previous one. There is a limit to how many times a cell can multiply; this has been recognized as the Hayflick Limit in western science. In 1912, an experiment was conducted by Alexis Carrel where chicken...

Breathing Power

A simple test to know the current state of your health is to count your breaths per minute. If you breathe 8 to 10 times in a minute then you are on the right track. At 12-15 breaths per minute, you need to start yoga and if you’re breathing more than 15 times, then immediate corrective measures are required. To begin with avoid hyperactivity as it depletes energy. There are techniques in yoga that can regulate your breath-flow. They can keep you charged-up and disease-free all the time. Sanatan Kriya is one simple way of controlling the flow of your breath. Here are 3 techniques to synchronise your breath with the body’s biorhythms. 1. Bhramari Pranayama: Try to sit in vajrasana or any other comfortable position; make sure that your back is upright. Plug your ear with your thumb and place your fingertips on your head region. Inhale and very slowly exhale while making a deep and steady humming sound (like the humming bee). 2. Nadi Shodhanam: Sit in vajrasana or any other comfor...

Science Of Mantra

A mantra is a coded form of energy in the form of sound (dhwani).  Every mantra comprises of  shakti ,  beej  and  keel  - the combination of three containing in themselves the total effect of a mantra. While  shakti  refers to the driving force in a mantra (responsible for sanchalan of the mantra), the  beej  is its potential (just like a seed is a potential tree) and the  keel  is what binds the mantra to the purpose for which it is intended. (sound waves traverse large distances in a matter of seconds, the  keel  ensures the energy unleashed stays where it has to and does not dissipate) Uchharan is of utmost importance in a mantra. A mantra is a codified form of energy, an invocation of the subtler energies. The science of mantras calls for great degree of precision and accuracy. A mantra should only be chanted by one who has the right uchharan – the right words, the right pronunciation and t...

what is moksha

What is moksha? "Moksha is simply a state above your present state. For a dog becoming a cow is moksha and for a cow graduating to a human is moksha. Similarly, for a labourer becoming a supervisor is moksha, for a supervisor becoming a manager is moksha, for a manager attaining the position of a general-manager is moksha, for a general- manager the chair of a CEO is moksha and for a CEO becoming a Yogi is moksha. All these are attainable in one lifetime only, if you are sthir inside. Whatever your current state is, rising above that is moksha for you. Moksha does not refer just to the state of leaving everything and uniting with self - as at this level of evolution it is impractical for you to think about that. Here I am talking about people in general and not about exceptions. For a common man, rising above his/her current state is Moksha. In short, vairagya is Moksha and Moksha is vairagya. This implies you keep climbing up the steps one-by-one but this upward progression dep...

We understand things depending on our evolution

How many of you understood this?A person X would see only this physical body where as a doctor would see the state of health of different organs inside this physical body like heart, liver, lungs etc.Similarly a being with a little more gyan will neither look at the body nor the organs, he will see the energy running in an individual’s body and looking at this energy or prana he will decide the capacity of an individual and not on the basis of the way he dresses or looks. A being of still higher dimension will not be concerned even about the energy, he will just give to whoever comes to him and go forward on his path and think nothing beyond this. A being higher than this level, just remembering that being, whatever you want will come to you, without even going to him. After this level comes the path of Moksha (which even if I describe you wont understand). These are dimensions of a being, the stages he goes through when on the path of yog. Another example to illustrate this point wo...

karmic balance

The entire creation may be described as having just two aspects- Prakriti (anything that can be perceived by the five senses) and Purush (soul). Today man is lost so much in the worldly pleasures that he has completely lost touch with purush(soul). When we face problems we blame it on God asking him why we deserve it but we forget whatever we receive pleasures or pains is as per our karmic balance. We always forget the basic law of karma that every action has equal an opposite reaction. When we enjoy pleasures,we have to balance it with pain an when we get pain be happy, out negative karmas are been taken care of because every pain and pleasure has a limited period.A Yogi knows this and is unaffected by problems, s/he sees it as cancelling out of negative karmas. And such gyan is only possible when you are under the sanidhya of a GURU.A GURU makes even your pain look like a pleasure for you an when you have his grace, your entire journey is blessed.

In yog you dont need to leave anything.

Yog or yoga is more than asanas and jumping around like monkeys.Yog is a very powerful science which can only be achieved under the guidance of a GURU.Yog means merger, merger of you with your GURU. Atmasakshatkar or self realisation is the meaning of yog.Only a GURU knows our capabilities and takes us forward as he  knows our strengths and weaknesses. Its a wrong conception that when we are in yog,we need to leave things or follow a specific diet.Yoga does not follow any diet or ritual. You can eat anything, drink anything,go out, have fun....coz as you progress on the path of yog anything which is heavy for you will automatically leave you.You are never forced to leave anything infact on the contrary on the path of yog you enjoy everything and rise above it after experiencing it under Guru sanidhya. But for that it is important to follow the agya of GURU and follow on the path of yog with niyam as every word of GURU is a mantra for a shishya . "Mantra Moolam Guru Vaky...

YOG'A'?

"Yoga"- this four letter word has become a very popular term in recent times and everyone seems to think that they know what it is. This is because of the extensive commercialization of the subject. infact, so much so that it has become a multi-crore business- with all kinds of "products" available in the market and all 'forms' of yoga and some of the recent "innovations" like Hot yoga, Power yoga are amusing,to say the least. (a simple google search will be enlightening here!) But do you really know what yoga is ? Even those who know its literal meaning that is "union" seem to not give it any further consideration. Majority think of yoga as -"doing some asans and breathing exercises to keep your body fit and mind relaxed" Yog (or Yog'a') is in reality the ultimate science- science of the self. It is by Yog that you discover who you really are. Mind you this is no philosophy, it is THE most practical subject. It...

NATURE's LANGUAGE

FACT OF NATURE LEARNING FOR US ·         Everything in nature is in cycles - nitrogen cycle, carbon cycle, water cycle, day and night cycle, cycle of seasons and so on. Infact the life processes and bio-chemical reactions inside any organism too are cyclic in nature- circulatory system, cell cycle, etc water cycle ·         Purest of water stagnates if held in one place for a long time. ·         Everything in nature exists in layers. .Eg Earth has layers to it(Crust, Mantle and core), Atmosphere too (Troposphere, Stratosphere, Mesosphere, Thermosphere ,Exosphere), Even a single fruit has layers to it- Exocarp,Endocarp,Mesocarp,Seed coat, Endosperm,Embryo) layers of a fruit ·         The smallest of things in the creation have a purpose- be it a tree, spider, lizard or a small ant and each...

Watch your thought.

Close your eyes.Sit in silence and see what happens. When you sit in silence with yourself for sometime, you would see a number of thoughts coming in your mind and if you observe youl find that these thoughts do not come from within you. They are already there in the surroundings, every thought that we get has already been created so the thoughts are merely "caught" by us. We do not create any new thoughts. Thoughts are very powerful. Thoughts are so powerful that if not taken care of can damage the environment too and in a big way. Nuclear bomb was just a thought in the beginning and see its impact today. Its very important to ensure the purity of  thought and see that most of our thoughts are for the benefit of the people..A GURU ensures that most of the thoughts have a positive effect and are helpful for the creation when you hold his hand. Lets all understand the importance of thoughts and make the best use of this tool to aid the positive forces of the creation...

How important is niyam?

Niyam or discipline makes a person always progress in life.Any person who does his work in a disciplined manner always makes the best use of time and moves forward in life.Niyam as it is called in yog is very important for a sadhak to progress.Yog is a subject of topmost priority and it comes second to none.Any person who wants to progress on the path of yog should always follow the niyams set by his/her GURU and not judge them by their limited buddhi. We should never break any niyam given by the GURU as only the GURU knows our capacity. Our vedic culture has given a lot of importance to niyam and a person who follows it always progresses on the path of his evolution by the grace of the GURU . Always remember there is nothing as important as yog an never break your niyam for anything or else you are not fit for yog but you are meant for that state only for which you break your niyam.Find a GURU an under his sanidhya make your life worth living.

Yog- Definitely not a business!

Yog or Yoga as its been called today has lost its real meaning. Most associate it with breathing exercises or doing asans (just like some fitness regime). With so many "GURUS" all over and each one having their own styles of yoga, makes a person wonder what is actually Yog'a' ? Yog is GURU and nothing beyond it. It begins and culminates with your GURU.Yog is a complete science of a person's evolution and such a pious science cannot be bought or sold in the market. As Yog has been there in our culture since the very beginnings, thus nobody can lay claim on it and sell it as a "product" to meet personal needs.Saffron clad, in today's world, does not necessarily indicate one is on the right path. Therefore, it is imperative to understand what Yog really is and who can be called a Guru!

The sooner ... the better

What is the right age to begin yog? One of the common thought processes is- Yog is pursued when all "worldly duties" are over and when you have achieved whatever you thought needs to be, but this is a misconception. This is because each one of us is born with a limited reserve of energy, once you expend this energy there is no way to replenish it. But here we see Maya( lord vishnu's most potent tool, used to run the creation) at play. Maya has maximum grip during the early years of life and slowly towards the fag end of ones life it loosens its grip, but by then it is too late. The body no longer has the strength, the senses become dull and slowly one loses control over his/her own body. At this stage the body(vehicle) becomes unfit to undertake the ultimate journey of the spirit- Yog. Thus, the right age or inclination never arrives for most. Yog is a spiritual journey. It has nothing to do with the age of an individual. It is a misconception that Yog is for the old...

Dont vegetate...Live your life!

Yog or Yoga has been given to us by our forefathers- the Vedic Rishis. they were highly advanced beings who had studied every single thing in the creation, including the being.  In todays world this sacred science of yog is more relevant than ever before. Life in the "modern" world is full of stress, competition, anger, impatience, betrayal and dishonesty, but there is a golden chance to live a life like a lotus in this dirty contaminated water. When you begin on the path of yog nothing changes outside, its still all the same but there is a change within (and that too without you even realizing it) and life takes a complete turn around (but this needs to be experienced individually!) Life becomes full of energy and enthusiasm and above everything else there is a real purpose to life. Life looks beautiful, meaningful and it now gives the strength to walk straight and allows you to focus on the 'goal' without any worryies or tensions..What more can a person ask for? Star...

Experience!

It is often said that life is all about experiences and to really know about anything, the best way  is to do it and experience it for yourself. In the world today where everything has a price tag, truth and honesty are critically endangered virtues, stress and emotional congestion have become central traits of life of one and all, there comes a life of Yog which shows you, your inner self and the purpose of this precious human life.  Once you hold the hand of your GURU, he takes you through the experiences of life and beyond. With a correct GURU you not only experience everything you are capable of  but you also go over your desires by fulfilling them which is the way of Yog- No desire is suppressed rather you experience and go beyond them. Experiences under a Guru's sanidhya always make you firm and shows your life path . Its always nice to experience something than to just talk and get nothing. Experience Yog to Experience Life!
