The circle of life

YOGI ASHWINI The manifested Creation is based on certain laws which have governed it since its beginning. These laws rule us whether we approve of them or not. One of the main laws that binds us in our journey on this planet is the Law of Karma. It is not a mere coincidence that nearly every major religion of the world talks about karma. It cannot be a coincidence that all the great men of different religions saw this rule of Creation and gave it as a law. Karma is an unfailing law and the foundation of any yogic practice. Karma can be simply translated as “action”. Action doesn’t necessarily stand for a physical act; it can be a thought, too. In fact, every action in physical term is a thought before manifestation. The Law of Karma states, “What you sow, so shall you reap”. But does everyone believe in this law which says that everything we do comes back to us in some form? We know this, but somehow there is doubt when we actually begin to do things. This is the basic problem wi...

Breathing Power

A simple test to know the current state of your health is to count your breaths per minute. If you breathe 8 to 10 times in a minute then you are on the right track. At 12-15 breaths per minute, you need to start yoga and if you’re breathing more than 15 times, then immediate corrective measures are required. To begin with avoid hyperactivity as it depletes energy. There are techniques in yoga that can regulate your breath-flow. They can keep you charged-up and disease-free all the time. Sanatan Kriya is one simple way of controlling the flow of your breath. Here are 3 techniques to synchronise your breath with the body’s biorhythms. 1. Bhramari Pranayama: Try to sit in vajrasana or any other comfortable position; make sure that your back is upright. Plug your ear with your thumb and place your fingertips on your head region. Inhale and very slowly exhale while making a deep and steady humming sound (like the humming bee). 2. Nadi Shodhanam: Sit in vajrasana or any other comfor...

Is euthanasia ethical?

Death – the five letters are considered the end of birth and also the end of existence. A person who does not want to live as he or she is unable to go through the experiences of life and is dependent on artificial aids to breathe and be nourished is not allowed to die. The modern-day society considers it unethical. Man has completely forgotten the Gita and Vedas, which clearly say that this body is for experiences and once it is unable to give you that, then it's time to leave it and go into another. The soul chooses the body and the experiences it desires. It's the free will of the soul which should be respected. As per Ayurveda, if a disease exhibits certain symptoms, then the vaidya would not treat it, as it means that the time for the person to leave the body has come and no medicine would be effective. The patient is allowed to go into a fresh new body. The Vedic seers believed that the time and place of death is fixed and cannot be changed, unless the guru desires. The p...

Health is Wealth

The often-quoted phrase has acquired a new dimension in today’s materialistic world. In today’s context health does really imply wealth, though not really in quite the manner it was meant to in earlier times. In the current environment Health is Wealth because it provides the most fruitful business opportunities. Fitness having become a fad, all health related goods and services yield profits. Health is the positioning for communication for not just a brand of cooking oil, but also for a refrigerator, colour TV, trousers and many more products. The race is on to acquire healthy bodies, healthy skins within the framework of unhealthy lifestyles. Health boutiques offering quick fix solutions to health related problems have burgeoned. Now besides physical health and emotional health, even spiritual health can be acquired for a price. The proliferation of organisations marketing slickly packaged programmes offering spiritual gains is testimony to how misconstrued the concept is. Health...

Fibre of life

The clothes we wear are the closest to our physical at all time. By virtue of this, we are constantly affected by the nature of our clothes and their colour. That’s why it is advisable to wear clothes made of natural fibre. Wearing synthetic clothes will transfer on to you the artificial nature of the fabric, making you artificial and taking you away from the real world of nature. The same goes for ladies who wear bindis. Since it affects the Ajna Chakra directly, it is strongly recommended that the bindi be made of natural substances. Unfortunately, nowadays designer bindis are more prevalent than the natural ones. What these ladies are imbibing through their Ajna is only plasticity and artificiality. Within the physical, the natural colour of substances indicates its nature and effect. When you go to a party, you wear bright flashy clothes, but when you go for a prayer meeting, the preference is for subdued pastel shades. Is this an effect of social conditioning or has social c...

Destiny

"Destiny which is called as prarabdh in vedic terminology is indeed a fact. Everyone has to go through the effect of what is prarabdh. It is only Shiv or your Guru who have the capacity to alter what is prarabdh , but then that is done only for a higher cause. By doing yog under the sanidhya of your Guru, whatever has to happen will still happen, but you will not feel its effect. Therefore that karma becomes redundant for you. Thus role of a Yog Guru is to gradually open all these karma bandhans. The purpose of life is simply to experience what you have desired. This desire could be anything- desire to have a particular sweet or the sexual desire or desire to paint depending on the individual. So there is nothing wrong in experiencing whatever you desire, after all that’s what you are here for. But the problem comes when you get stuck in one desire and that becomes a pitfall.Don’t forget that apart from the 5 senses there are subtler senses and higher worlds that can be accesse...

Beauty lies within you

Most of us spend our time either making ourselves look beautiful or getting things that make us look good. But does it really help?  Even a person who has been pampering herself/himself from his/her early age, will too eventually look old after a period of time. So then what is beauty? Beauty is not just the outer appearance but the inner self. Beautiful is the one whose thoughts are divine and the one who helps others selflessly. Infact, outside is only a reflection of the inside. When a person glows from inside, the outer glow and attraction comes automatically.Thoughts play a major role in making the person what s/he is- as what you think you eventually become as the energy follows thoughts   The secret of beauty and glow does not lie in beauty parlours, but within you. To preserve the life force in you and to look beautiful start with 'sanatan kriya.'

The REAL you

Everyone says i am perfect, everybody says i am unique and strong and there is nothing that I cannot do or achieve. Then why are we unhappy? Why do we fall when we encounter a crisis and  why are we not able to solve it?Is this world the reality or are we living in illusion?Even if a girl is good looking, she wants to look better. A person who has lots of money is always unhappy comparing himself to other people.Lets get practical and real and learn that this world that we live is only reel as the real world lies inside us..The entire creation and the gods and the goddess which represent the various energies of this creation also lie within us.The day we understand what we are,we would be free from all sorrows and lead a peaceful and detached life. The life within is the only reality but this real you cannot be found by reading books or listening to discourses...You can find and know yourself when you hold the hand of a GURU.Under the guidance of a GURU,the entire creation is revealed ...

A human being is a combination of various physical an etheric layers. In the etheric layers are a set of energy centers called chakras, the whirling pool of concentrated energy.each and every cell has a chakra associated to it.They throw out used prana when they move outwards an pull in fresh prana when they move inwards. There are 7 major chakras. Mooladhar, the first chakra from bottom controls the basic instincts like food, shelter, desire an survival. The colour has been observed from dark brown to golden brown.Swadhishtan is the next chakra which controls the sexual desires at lower level. Its colour is observed as dark orange to whitish orange. The next chakra at the navel is Manipoorak whose quality is power. The colour associated is mustardish brown to saffron. The next chakra called Anahat chakra is the seat of human love.It represents kindness and selfless love and is observed as violet and whitish pink. The next chakra Vishuddhi around the throat pit is the seat of higher creativity, ...

Lets learn from the sun

SUN-ever wondered what gives it that magnificent glow, magnetism and attraction? What would it possibly have, that everything revolves around it?and every single day we see the same ageless sun shining in all its glory.Sun is the highest form of energy in our solar system. This is the energy which is used by plants and stored as food.We humans often take the sun's energy for granted, yet it rises every single morning, lighting up so many lives. It  does its responsibility effectively and tirelessly, yet does not ask anything in return. We humans,on the on the other hand, have become so selfish that even before we do a small action, we first look at the "returns" we would get and see to it that we make the most of it. A true Yogi too is like a Sun, whose only motive in life is to benefit the people and work for evolution and creation and thus he exudes the same magnificent radiance. We all must learn from the sun- how to lead a selfless life- where you live to give and expec...

Law of karma

Law of karma- the real meaning... Karma can be simply translated as action.Action doesnt necessarily stand for an act in the physical.it can be a thought also.Infact every action in physical terms is a thought before manifestation. the law of karma to put simply is - "what u sow,so shall u reap" We all are aware of this law but how many of us take it seriously and how many of us truly follow it? Every action of ours be it positive or negative releases opposite force in universe i.e. whatever we do has to come back to us but the reaction may not necessarily equal,it could be greater too. What you give to others comes back to you manifold . Its very important not to have any ill feeling against any person in thought, word or deed. Its very difficult to escape the result of your karma in the form of pleasure or pain unless you are holding the hand of a GURU.With the GURU'S grace the events of your life will not be able to affect you in any possible way. It is time we app...

Havan

Havan-Its the direct way of interaction with the divine energies.Fire or Agni is the only element that cannot be polluted an this is the reason it is chosen as a medium to interact with the devlok. While we feed fruits an vegetables, the devas feed on fragrances. So its very important to ensure the purity of the samagri, the correct prounciation(uccharan) of the mantras an the purity of the thought. When a havan is done under the sanidhya of a GURU,it has a very powerful effect on those participating in it.You imbibe the purity of agni warding off all the negativity an diseases. The proper uccharan of mantras in a havan is very important. It needs to have the right words, right prounciation and the right modulation.Incorrect uccharan can do more harm than good which is the reason for the present state of chaos in the world.Under the sanidhya of a GURU,lets preserve our vedic culture an help towards the creation. "Of the five elements agni or fire is the only element which cannot ...
