In search of truth

Have you ever wondered what is it that we are searching for? People carry their whim's and fancies while searching the eternal truth, but can one see a coin lying at river bed when water is dirty and not still....? No, similarly we cannot search for eternal truth outside, it is inside the being. Only when the water is still and clean can one see the coin lying on the river bed. Just close your eyes and see what is it that is going inside the brain…give it two minutes. You will realize that there are so many thoughts that are running inside you…so many different things you want – children, family, spouse, business, emotions. All these thoughts indicate to you what is the desire of soul. And it is because of these thoughts or desires that you are unable to go beyond human existence and you are unable to find peace and happiness in the human body Only when you will silence your mind, only then you will be able to go beyond. Then your thought process is going to be on creati...

Fight Nicotine Addiction

The habitual use of tobacco in any form constricts the arteries to such an extent that the blood flow gets affected. All those who try to quit smoking experience at least one or more of these symptoms: cravings to smoke, difficulty concentrating, nervousness, restlessness, irritability, anxiety, cognitive impairment, increased appetite and, eventually, weight gain. So much so that it becomes a constant struggle to overcome this addiction. Many times, people shift their addiction from one substance to another. A tried and tested way to reduce all these symptoms is to practice Sanatan Kriya. The habitual use of tobacco in any form constricts the arteries to such an extent that the blood flow gets affected. To unclog the arteries, you need to ensure that the prana (life force) is appropriately distributed in your body. For this, you need to learn yogic breathing. So, first ...

Time travel with yoga

Physics acknowledges the possibility to move from one dimension of time to another. So do yoga and sanatan kriya, says Yogi Ashwani The Vedic masters revealed that when we go near a heavy or grosser object — the one which is weightier — then the speed of time slows down. One might argue that the speed of the second hand of a watch remains the same irrespective of our location on earth and so time moves at a constant speed. However, recently scientist Stephen Hawking did a study on this and said that time-travel (which involves moving from one dimension of time to another) is possible and that is only because time is not the same everywhere. Somewhere time moves faster and somewhere else it moves slower. And this gap between slow and fast is determined by the speed of light. If you move with the speed of light, then in every half an hour, you will move one hour, which means that if you are travelling at that speed, then if half an hour has passed in your watch, one...

Life is an experience

It is the desires that tie one to the individual consciousness. Once these are removed, the being becomes one with the supreme consciousness, writes Yogi Ashwini Love is the four-letter word on which epics have been composed, movies based, songs and poems attributed. And yet, if you look at any great love story, you will find that the end is always tragic; the story ends with the separation of the lovers. The truth is that there is no such thing as love, and realising this is enlightenment. Every person in the world is looking for love, yet there is hardly anyone who is aware of it. Today one spends a lifetime in the pursuit of the physical; lust and possession are mistranslated as love. Love actually is in letting go of the people you love, to give them the freedom to live their own; it lies in sacrifice and being there for them unconditionally without expecting anything in return. In the realm of energy, the colour pink translates as love. If you look around you w...

Relationships Explained The Yogic Way

We all know that we come in this world alone and go back alone. We will not be accompanied by anyone, no matter how close or dear we are to them, or they to us. Pause a minute and think: the majority of our problems stem from our near and dear ones. That is, relatives, immediate family, enemies and friends, not from someone unknown? You will also find that the root cause of arguments, fights, emotional turmoil, congestions, broken relationships and business losses are also these very people. So it is safe to conclude that for the greater part of our lives we get troubled, not by absolute strangers but by people who are known to us. Your relationship with every individual is a result of basic principle--as you sow so shall you get--it is a mere give and take. This give and take is a pay-back of our karmas from our previous births and from this lifetime. You get associated with people because they need something from you and you need something from them too. Without an...

A comprehensive guide to the world of Anti Aging!

In the present times everyone, from the scientific community to the people who are obsessed with looking younger to a casual on-looker, is so greatly involved in understanding the process of aging or more specifically anti aging. Who wants to age after all ? But for amount of curiosity it has generated what is shocking is that none seem to be vaguely be on the right track. After conducting extensive clinical trials on human and animals alike, the scientific community has never been able to zero in one that "one" idea which will seal the fate of future human generations, or so to speak. To one point for looking at the solutions in meteorite dust to red wine till finally when the idea of food occurred to them, the journey has been quite an unsuccessful one to say the least!  Not so for the big corporates though! As you grow older they seem to be getting richer!  But all these doubts and negativity surrounding the subject disappears when one reads the book-...

'I-me-myself'...

From morning to night and from night to morning all we think of is about 'i-me-myself', my career, my marriage, my bank balance, my social status, my fame, my family, my friends... perfectly normal right? Wrong. This 'my' thinking reduces our thought process to such a tiny level that we are always thinking of ourselves and thus our problems seem too big to us and we are unconcerned about things that are happening around us- things happening to our environment, our society, our planet and where things are actually heading....if only we could incorporate small things in our life- like keeping a bowl of water for the thirsty birds, or feeding a stray dog or a cow in our locality while going or coming back from work, helping any random person or animal in any way possible.. you will start to experience a change in your thoughts and no problem would seem too big. Dont believe me...perfectly fine.... try it out yourself!!! Also take a moment to think.... we spend every day...

I Love you- Do I?

The three most commonly used words, maybe in close competition with I Hate you, one generally follows the other, so we can't be very sure. but heck, to begin with how many of us understand what Love is? As a famous Calvin comic strip goes, is it just evolution kicking in to make sure that our species continue?  Or is it something, which is above the relationship of give and take? What is it? Well, as usual too many questions and just one person to turn too. Asking the Guru himself. In the words of Yogi Ashwini ji - "In a human being, the anahad chakra, located at the center of the chest cavity, governs the need for love. There are very few, who with yogic practices like Sanatan Kriya or with karmas of previous lives are able to form connections at the level of anahad. The closest example of a connection made at this level would be the unconditional love of a mother towards her baby. Most adult relationships are limited to connections of the lower...

Why are our thoughts more negative than positive?

Question- Why are our thoughts more negative than positive?  Yogiji- That is because you are selfish. Selfishness breeds negativity. But if you are not selfish, you will not be in this world. A shooter training for Olympics had come to me few years back. I told him that he should go for the competition with a detached mind. Not to win a medal, but to give in his best without thinking about the result. His wife was listening to the conversation and demanded, 'What kind of an advise is this? This way he will never win. He needs to inculcate the killer instinct rather than becoming saintly.' So when this shooter went for the game, he won the medal once, but was never seen on the international arena ever again. If you attempt anything with high levels of detachment, you will be successful. But if you approach it with selfishness, you will fail even if you achieve it because you will not get satisfaction. The 'killer instinct' takes you nowhere. The ones who focus on just t...

Who made me think ?

Funny feeling it is when all of a sudden we would lose ourselves in the world of thoughts and find ourselves wasting precious joules of energy getting angry, jealous, happy, sad, sometimes naughty in our dream world. Ever wondered why we think, where we get these thoughts? Do all people get the same thoughts? Well, I decided to do some research and google my thoughts.  Remember a time when researching meant bugging your grand mum with not so comfortable questions. But technology has advanced and everything we need is just a click away. Cool isn’t it? Even though our original google is just a call away.  Anyway I was told that “ I was feeling lucky today” so I continued. Some links that I browsed said that these were because some neurons were fired while others directed me to some fancy brain maps ! All seemed to explain what happens when I think, but none why I think what I think. Not satisfied with the answers modern science was throwing at me, I decided t...

Its not Mumbo-jumbo!

The Revered Cow Yogi Ashwini Our coming generations have a strong western bias and firmly believe that the vedic culture is mumbo-jumbo, and that there is no science behind the worship and rituals. I would like to present certain facts about the efficacy and the global acceptability of the vedic principles to the younger generation. Recently, I came across the diary of Sir Cunningham at the national archives. He had sketched out a calf and a cow on the third page of the diary and discussed the scientific and logical benefits of preserving this animal. One can find references to the cow across cultures. The Egyptians worshipped her as Hathor, the goddess of fertility, while those from this side of the Indus called her the Kamdhenu and Nandi. The Greeks knew her as Lo and the Nordics as Audhumbla, the primeval cow who licked ice and brought mankind into existence. So, what is it about the cow that caused it to be revered across cultures and also caught the attention of the ...

Rasayans For Good Health

One thought that constantly plagues everybody’s mind is to lose weight. Every one wants that lean body, which has wrongly become synonymous with beauty and attraction. In the want to lose weight, people resort to extreme measures. Some of them start excluding things from their diet randomly without being aware of the serious complications and deficiencies that such an action entails and others turn to dieticians and fad diet programmes. A dietician looks at only physical aspect of the body and completely ignores the energy aspect. Unaware of the complex mechanism of the body and various dhatus that comprise it, he/she usually categorises the food into fats, proteins and carbohydrates and formulates a chart where the fat component is excluded from the diet. Majority of such diet control regimes have serious side effects that often translate into chronic ailments. The time-tested science of ayurveda details the seven dhatus that comprise our body and the importance of maintaining a bala...

Logic of Life

At some point in life, most of us would have asked a question- "Is everything in life just a random play of events or is there a logic, a reason behind the things which are happening?" and most, if not all, would have dismissed it as a 'philosophical' debate and went on with more'practical' things in life. But i feel the only difference which makes something a philosophy and something 'practical' is its applicability. A philosophy which is applicable and gives tangible results becomes practical.Anyways, coming to the question is there really something which controls the events of ones life? Well the answer is Yes!  Everything is not that random just as it seems, After all it cant just be a random call as to why someone is born on the street not even knowing if s/he will get 2 meals a day where as another in an affluent family with all the luxuries right from childhood; why some are born with genetic diseases while others have near perfect health...

Dictionary traces maths concepts to Vedas

By  Jhimli Mukherjee Pandey , TNN  |  Aug 30, 2012 KOLKATA: For eight years, a few  mathematics  and  Sanskrit scholars  of the  Calcutta University  have been working on a mammoth project. They have been trying to establish a tall claim that at least 5,000 basic and advanced modern mathematical concepts have their roots in Sanskrit and most of these have  Vedic  antecedents.  At the end of this painstaking research, the first kosa or dictionary of Sanskrit to English mathematical terms is ready and there are four more to follow. This central government project is being touted as the first of its kind in the world as never before have the Indian etymology of so many modern technical terms been so radically established.  The project was given to these scholars by the Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan, a wing of the ministry of human resources development, through the city-based Sanskrit Sahitya Parishat. The chief investi...

Doomsday process has already begun

Doomsday is round the corner while I am writing this. 21/12/2012, as per the Mayan calendar and various abstract prophecies, indicates the end of world. The very fact that you are reading these thoughts today proves that nothing happened. But do not be relieved, as the process of destruction of humankind had set in when division set in, when advait became dvait. During the Vedic times, when there was no division, no religion, wars were fought only for protection of dharma. Earlier even asurs followed a code of conduct in war. Now wars happen because of exploitation and hunger for power of a few and there is no code of conduct. In the Vedic times, in spite of having such an advanced weaponry system, there was no pollution, no exploitation. It is only when the concept of ‘I’ came into play that misuse/exploitation of resources, senseless killings and destruction of nature began (though it is interesting to see that no religion talks about ‘I’, violence or division....
