Sanskrit is the oldest language known to man. It is considered to be the very origin of language itself; that from which all languages have arisen or evolved. Unlike popular belief, Sanskrit is not a language only of scriptures or hymns and chants chanted in rituals and ceremonies; it was used in earlier times by everyone - philosophers, scientists, mathematicians, poets and playwrights, grammarians etc. In grammar, Panini and Patanjali (authors of Ashtadhyayi and the Mahabhashya) have no equals in the world; in astronomy and mathematics the works of Aryabhatta, Brahmagupta and Bhaskaracharya opened up new frontiers for mankind, as did the works of Charak and Sushrut in medicine. In literature, the works of Kalidas (Shakuntala, Meghdoot, Malavikagnimitra, etc.), Bhavabhuti (Malti Madhav, Uttar Ramcharit, etc.) are known all over the world. Thus, Sanskrit literature is easily the richest literature in the history of mankind. Infact in 1786, when Sir William Jones, in a paper pres...

ReplyDelete1. JAL NETI: Nasal cleansing. Take 500ml bearably warm water in a neti pot, add ½ tsp black/rock salt and a pinch of turmeric. Stand evenly and bending slightly forward tilt the head at 45degrees angle towards left. Insert the nozzle of the pot into the right nostril. While breathing from the mouth, tilt the pot so that the water runs into the right nostril and flows out from the left. Repeat on the other side. Breathe normally afterwards. Saline water is the best cleansing medium, which absorbs and scrapes away infectious pathogens accumulated in the nasal passage. Turmeric is disinfectant, antiseptic and scouring agent.
2. PUTTING COW’S GHEE IN NOSTRILS: warm pure cow’s ghee to a bearable temperature. Lie down flat on your back and let the head hang down, bending the neck backwards. Using a dropper or a spoon pour about 5 drops of ghee in each nostril turn by turn, in such a way so as it does not flow down towards the throat but flows backwards towards the head. Keep lying in the same position for 5 minutes afterwards. Cow’s ghee lubricates the nasal passage and strengthens the mucous membranes to fight against infections.
3. MASSAGING THE FEET WITH MUSTARD OIL: heat mildly some mustard oil and massage the soles of the feet before retiring. Loose cotton socks can be worn later. Mustard oil is hot and massaging generates heat in the body to fight any symptoms of cold and infection.
I watched news yesterday and was disgusted to see how the media are misleading the helpless ppl into beleiving that a plant can cure the swine flu virus? thanks to baba ramdev who can go to any lengths for publicity, be his public opposition of gay rights, or banning of aerated drinks in schools and the latest being finding the cure for swine flu. Are all the doctors and scientists doing research on swine flu incompetent or this guy a genius? where are the case studies, reserch etc on the accuracy of this cure ? Its high time media act more responsibily and guide the " aam janta" aka the mango ppl on facts rather than for trp's.
