Mantras for Change

YOGI ASHWINI.

In all the thousands of years of human existence, had pollution ever reached such a high level so as to make the environment unfit for living beings? In none of the previous Yugs have so many diseases manifested and plagued mankind. The mind is perhaps the most powerful tool, in all this. In fact, contamination first manifests in the mind as a selfish thought which, in turn, permeates into the whole society creating distrust and greed, making natural resources scarce and hazardous.
Increasing greed and self-centeredness have caused deforestation and strain on our non-renewable resources. And when you add to this the gross misuse of ancient mantras and practices, it only increases environmental pollution.
The entire creation emerged from just one sound - ‘OM’. Every sound in the creation effects a change in the physical body which might be positive (sur) or negative (asur).
A mantra is a combination of sounds which is chanted by the siddh of the mantra to manifest a desired energy in the physical world. Every sound of the mantra should be shudh (lucid) and the crests and troughs in a mantra should be strictly adhered to with complete reverence. Even the simple chant of ‘OM’ essentially has three sounds, representing the trinity, Brahma Vishnu and Shiva, corresponding to the three forces -Creation, Preservation and Transformation. These three are active in the physical as, ‘aaaa’ (as in ahem), `oooo’, (as in ouch) and `mmmm’ as the sound of the male bee. Chanting these three sounds in succession maintaining awareness of the lower body during ‘aaa’, the middle body during ‘ooo’ and head during ‘mmm’ has the direct effect of balancing the vibrations of the individual cells in the body.
There are several sub-sounds within these which range from a shrill to a whisper and even to silence - which is the most powerful when heard. Each sound signifies a certain energy and so one has to be extremely cautious while chanting mantras. Incorrect chanting can have disastrous effects while chanting of the right mantra has immediate positive results, not only changing our environment but also our body.

Purify your body, soul and home by playing these rare ancient vedic chants in the Living Master’s own voice. - http://www.dhyanfoundation.com/ancientvedicchants.php

difference between ‘meditation’ and dhyan?

"The difference between meditation and dhyan is that between shoonya (this is not to be confused with shoonyata, here it refers literally to zero) and poorna . Dhyan is state of complete awareness-inside and outside- it is a Poorna state, whereas meditation is a big zero. In meditation what a person does is he/she thinks of a certain thing and therefore it is basically no better than day dreaming, where as in dhyan you are aware of everything .Swami Satyananand Paramhans (Bihar School of Yog) described meditation as a ‘moodh ’ state or a lower state. Now a days, the subject of yog and tantra have been totally misrepresented. I was watching a programme on a ‘spiritual’ channel and there I saw a very elderly woman sharing her thoughts on ‘spirituality’. So I thought let me listen into what she has to say. After her discourse she made the viewers do dhyan and sat herself in dhyan as well. When it was over, she came out with some sort of jerk in her body. Anybody who knows the st

Gyan Vs Knowledge

"There is a huge difference between knowledge and gyan . Let me give an example. When I was appearing for my class 10 exams, I found that as it is I am bad in maths apart from that I was weak in Geography as well and in our school whoever used to fail in two subjects used to fail in that class. So I still remember that I memorised the whole book, chapter-wise and in the exam for each question I wrote the entire chapter. So ultimately the examiner must have thought that I have written so much (even though irrelevant) that he gave me passing marks- exactly 33 %. So, you may know entire chapters on Yoga but the  gyan  will still not be there. When you do yog or  dhyan ,  gyan  comes to you constantly. As you progress  Gyan  comes to you step by step. When you receive  gyan  you take one step, then you receive more gyan and move to the next step and so on and so forth. This progress is not dependent on time. Gyan will come to you only when you are connected to your Guru; without thi
