Problems

"Whatever happens with you is in accordance with the Law of Karma. Your pains and pleasures are directly proportional to your negative and positive karmas. A problem is nothing but the manifestation of the negative karmas that you have accumulated over lifetimes. A Yogi knows this and is unaffected by problems, s/he sees it as cancelling out of negative karmas. But a normal human being asks- “What did I do to deserve this?”

It is extremely simple to deal with physical problems. If you want academic success start teaching others; if you want material success make lives comfortable for the needy; if you are emotionally stressed become the emotional support for someone - whatever you desire, start giving it to others. It is this simple. But do remember physical pleasures are like sand, the harder you try to hold on to them, the faster they will slip.

The science of mantra is powerful and precise and its purpose is to aid the Creation.
These days people ask me for mantras to solve their individual problems. While chanting specific mantras can rid you of a particular problem, it does not rid you of your karmic baggage (the one you have accumulated as past-life carry-overs). As soon as one problem gets solved, the unbalanced karma takes shape of a new problem, so once again you go searching for a new mantra... this becomes a vicious circle and hence a steady business of those 'dealing' in mantras!

The only way to get over one's karmas lies in - satya (truth), asteya (non-stealing), aparigraha (non-collection), ahimsa (non-violence) and brahmcharya (code of Brahma). No adversity can touch a person who is sthir in these five yamas, as laid down by sage patanjali. What circumstances can fear a person who has nothing to hide? What can one take away from a person who has nothing to spare? Why would one harm a person who is non-violent? And how can a disease touch a person who follows brahmcharya?
It is simple. You can only punish a child as long as he fears the punishment. If the punishment ceases to have an effect on the child, you will have to devise new measures!

But yogji, is it really possible to emulate these yamas in practical life?
Yes.
What stops you from following them is your agyan (ignorance). You think you can get way from a situation by lying. But then you forget the fact that the situation you are in is a product of your own karma. You may fool yourself or those around you, but you cannot fool the one who created you- the creator of this creation.Infact, I am surprised at the new and innovative ways people have found these days to lie. Some tell me, "I didn't lie, i just forgot the truth", some others say, "i didn't mean it, I was just having fun." Still others keep quiet, that too is a lie.
At such times you forget, the basis of this creation is the law of karma. Everything will happen the way it has to, in accordance with this law. You will face effect of the cause, in one way or another. So I would say start following the 5 yamas and then see what happens. Experience it yourself. There has to be a starting point, give it a try."

difference between ‘meditation’ and dhyan?

"The difference between meditation and dhyan is that between shoonya (this is not to be confused with shoonyata, here it refers literally to zero) and poorna . Dhyan is state of complete awareness-inside and outside- it is a Poorna state, whereas meditation is a big zero. In meditation what a person does is he/she thinks of a certain thing and therefore it is basically no better than day dreaming, where as in dhyan you are aware of everything .Swami Satyananand Paramhans (Bihar School of Yog) described meditation as a ‘moodh ’ state or a lower state. Now a days, the subject of yog and tantra have been totally misrepresented. I was watching a programme on a ‘spiritual’ channel and there I saw a very elderly woman sharing her thoughts on ‘spirituality’. So I thought let me listen into what she has to say. After her discourse she made the viewers do dhyan and sat herself in dhyan as well. When it was over, she came out with some sort of jerk in her body. Anybody who knows the st

Gyan Vs Knowledge

"There is a huge difference between knowledge and gyan . Let me give an example. When I was appearing for my class 10 exams, I found that as it is I am bad in maths apart from that I was weak in Geography as well and in our school whoever used to fail in two subjects used to fail in that class. So I still remember that I memorised the whole book, chapter-wise and in the exam for each question I wrote the entire chapter. So ultimately the examiner must have thought that I have written so much (even though irrelevant) that he gave me passing marks- exactly 33 %. So, you may know entire chapters on Yoga but the  gyan  will still not be there. When you do yog or  dhyan ,  gyan  comes to you constantly. As you progress  Gyan  comes to you step by step. When you receive  gyan  you take one step, then you receive more gyan and move to the next step and so on and so forth. This progress is not dependent on time. Gyan will come to you only when you are connected to your Guru; without thi
